The price of gold is approximately equal in both countries. However, the premium of price for coins to price for bullion may be lower or higher. The best choice, if you are in India right now, is to go to yp.yahoo.com put Chicago, Il in the location and type in gold coin. There are several with websites. E-mail them as ask them for quotes for gold coins or bullion. Check the price against the price in India. Remember you will also need to check with issues with customs, either country may impose a duty, and there is the flight costs. If you are talking about a sizable purchase you may consider opening an account at etrade.com and buy a futures contract. When it matures you can go to an authorized warehouse and pick up your gold bullion.

Someone please tell God of thunder that the Indian rupee is actually revaluing against the dollar! That said, gold prices are pretty standard all around.

If you need gold coins please email me.
