Buying Gold.a future investment?
Mr. Stafford asked:
When you hear a lot of investors and people talk about buying gold…do they mean buying gold in the stock market or another brokerage? If its the stock market, what is the stock ticker/quote that I need to focus on? Thanks.

Search :”Never Gonna Give You Up” in google and select I’m feeling lucky. The site has a really good opinion on gold (imo).

Any type of gold: coins, gold bars or exchange traded funds.
Gold Exchange Traded Funds (ETF’s) on the NYSE and AMEX:
GLD - SPDR Gold Trust ETF
DGL- Powershares DB Gold ETF
UGL - Proshares Ultra Gold ETF
GLD is the most popular one. The price movements of all 3 reflect movements in the gold commodity.

They purchase stocks belonging to companies that invest in different aspects of mining, holding and selling gold bullion. Such as GLD.
If you buy bars, bullion, coins or medallions, you will pay the bullion dealer / coin shop retail prices. When you go to sell, you will receive whole sale prices from the coin shop. A loose - loose situation.

there was an article on marketwatch yesterday about buying gold
they recommended not to buy gold. initially people thought that gold was a good investment because the supply was decreasing. however gold did not turn out to be a good investment because the demand for gold fell as well since europe and other countries are selling gold to raise cash to stabilize the economy so right now i do not think its a good investment…
however people have been talking about hyperinflation of commodities such as gold after deflation stops happening… at that time gold would definitely be a good buy
