can i make my gold chain longer and thicker without buying another one?
NeNa asked:
i got a gold nameplate that i got almost three years ago. the chain is short so that my necklace hangs a little bit lower from my neck, and the chain is kinda thin. Can i go to a jewlery shop and ask them to make the same chain that i have thicker and longer?? if yea, do think they’ll charge me a lot since i’m not buying another chain just using the same one i have? no stupid answers please

That is not possible, you need a new chain. You can’t just add on gold to make it both thicker and longer- it logically makes no sense. Thicker comes from the links used, you could add length in the links, but not all over thickness.. . You will be charged as well. Ask your parents for a holiday gift to have it rechained.

Longer, yes. They’ll add some links. Thicker, never seen that before. You might just want to get a bigger chain in the same cut. Chains will only go as long as the links will support. After a thin chain gets so long, it gets weak and you will easily break off a portion of your chain. Go so several jewelers and ask.
