How easy is it to catch gold-buying in WoW?

i was thinking about buying some gold on ebay for world of warcraft. can GMs like, inspect ur inventory to see how much gold u have? does someone have to report u? how does it work?

    I don’t know, but I personally would never give someone real money for virtual money. You invest enough money into the game already with monthly subscription fees and for the expansion module, not to mention the time investment.

    I doubt it would be too easy unless the people you buy from are people from the game posing as gold sellers. Then, it’d be easy for them to catch you.

    I think that they don’t necessarily need someone to report you, but they may catch you if someone reports the guy you buy from.

    Remember, WoW is not the “Real World”. Everything occurs on a computer server. They have logs of every action taken online. If they catch wind of a gold seller, they can look at all of his transactions and reverse them if they suspect anything.

    So imagine, paying $30.00 for 100 Gold, you receive your gold in the mail, then suddenly the GM subtracts 100 Gold from your character when they catch the transaction from a known Gold seller. Good luck getting your $30 back.

    Plus they can ban your account for doing it

    So I think that your chances of being caught probably depend on if your seller operates below the radar to keep from being caught
