THIS IS NOT A PARTISIAN CHEAP SHOT, ANYONE WITH AN INFLUENTIAL MOUTHPIECE LIKE BECK SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE
when he is sponsored by a gold purchasing company, goldline international. And constantly scaring the american people into buying gold on his radio and t.v shows?

I am not arguing that you shouldn’t buy gold, especially the way its value has gone up, however, a paid celebrity, using a news agency to push any product is irresponsible, and does damage to the credibility of the news agency, agree?

Yes, if he knows what he’s saying isn’t true. That’s what’s known as “lying” - Beck’s good at that. Goat

Why would everyone listen to Beck if according to Libtards that he is insane? Samm

It’s a commercial. It’s no damn different than Gordon Liddy, in fact it’s no different than that poser in the white house who screams that we will all die and go bankrupt if we don’t let the government take over wall street, the auto industry, health care, insurance companies, banks, etc…etc…etc… Well Duh!

Beck has been advertising for gold for many years. Don’t let liberal loons convince you otherwise with their lies.
Oh, Beck predicted the economic downturn and everyone called him crazy for it. He was right. Liberal loon politicians were wrong. Buddy R

Only one person can be stupid enough to spend money because of someone else recommending. If Beck caused someone to make a purchase of any kind it would be stupid on the purchasers part.Basically that is what the Democrats are doing with health care and look how many people support something they know nothing about. lienot

He’s using his power and influence to raise his stock and make him richer. Pretend to care about America when really he just cares about his pockets. Typically Fox news republican. Im literally starting to actually feel sorry for the listeners of Beck and Limbaugh.
And to the person named “Buddy” a little above me. The economy crashed under Bush and Democrats argued on that. How can you say that they were wrong? on_a_mission_to_please

He scared you into buying gold? wow.
He has that kind of power? wow. Well?

First of all - Old news.
Second, he is a paid spokesperson. It is VERY common for companies to pay celebrities to endorse their products.
Third - While grossly inflated in price right now, the way our “leaders” are pushing to destroy our country and put the final stake in the heart of the economy, gold is a good investment.
Fourth - He isn’t, by a longshot, the only one hawking gold.
Fifth - Not nearly as corrupt as the scam “Mail us your gold and we’ll mail you a check” companies. Buck O’Fama

Considering gold went over 1k an ounce after he started advertising for it, would it have been a bad idea? No. Otto

I’m no fan of Beck, he’s a neocon pretending to be a libertarian, but in this economy gold is one of the few sound investments. mick t

Beck told people to buy gold before he was even a spokesman of gold line. No religion in this pub
January 20th, 2010 at 1:00 am
Yeah, there’s a real good idea
Buy Gold when it is as high as it has EVER been——NOT
No good investment broker would tell you to buy anything, gold or any other commodity
when it is at all time highs.
Where are all these brilliant economic genius’s from the right wing?

Its investment advice. Nothing more. It is not nearly as corrupt as the President scaring the country by saying if the health care bill doesn’t pass we will go bankrupt. skipfab74

Buying gold during such turbulent economic times is prudent. Nothing Beck has said about the economy is untrue, if you find it scary, welcome to the club. His sponsors are interested in selling gold to the public. Advertising on shows with Becks demographics is also a smart decision.
If you want to look at things your way, have a look at Al Gore and his Global Warming scare tactics in his movie then take a look at his company that sells carbon credits.
I am sure you have heard about Al Gore’s massive carbon footprint. Do you know Gore buys his carbon offsets through Generation Investment Management? Gore helped found Generation Investment Management, through which he and others pay for offsets. Gore is chairman of the firm. In other words, he “buys” his “carbon offsets” from himself, through a transaction designed to boost his own investments and return a profit to himself.
But you attack Beck?

“…scaring us into buying gold…”
Hmmm! If the words of a commentator are going to make you run out and buy gold, you must be pretty weak minded. That’s like saying a commentator is unethical into “scaring” you into buying health insurance, “scaring” you into buying medications for some health condition, etc. Commercials are all about creating an awareness of a possible need.

Your question is a non sequitur. He is not scaring people into buying gold and thus, is not corrupt.
Problem solving has at least four steps. First, there is the fear or concern. Second, there is the evaluation of whether this fear or concern is an actual problem or not. Third, solutions to the problem are evaluated. Fourth, a course of action is taken to solve the problem.
Someone who peddles scare tactics doesn’t have any rational argument for getting past step 1. All they have is a fear to exploit and herd the people in order to achieve their agenda.
The Obama Administration economic policies are a real threat to the dollar. Before Beck even got involved, people were flocking to gold to protect their investments. This alone is proof that Beck’s argument for gold is more than just a scare tactic. Gold prices as of late, another. It is not the safest of investments, but it’s good for a well-rounded portfolio.
As soon as the US credit rating drops and/or China starts realizing how reckless we are with our spending and cuts us off, you’ll see inflation the likes of which you haven’t seen since the Carter Administration. Socrates

I find it interesting that answerers say things like “you’d be rich if you listened to him!” This is silly… you will get a high return, bu rich because of Beck - come on!
Gold is like stocks - buy low, sell high. Right now its time to sell, NOT buy like Beck is suggesting.
I don’t think he is corrupt per se, but he IS misleading the public. Your Horns are Showing Morris.

Gold is always a good buy, and I think he really believes in it. So, no, he isn’t “corrupt” by advocating its purchase. And you don’t have to buy gold through his sponsor, you can buy it plenty of other places. Now, you can make the argument that it’s a conflict of interest since he endorses the company on his radio show and also that it is against Fox News policy. However, neither of those things equals corruption. Jay
