When buyin gold for investment purposes is a gram of gold flakes worth the same as a gram of of gold in coin?

gold buying
G S asked:

I am trying to find out if buying gold flakes or gold wire is worth it, whether it is the same as buying the equivalent in a gold coin etc. I have a chance to buy an ounce in gold flakes and I am trying to find out what it is worth. Being that an ounce of gold is going for about a thousand. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

An ounce of gold if an ounce of gold–flakes or wire.

An ounce is an ounce - but coins are easier to buy and sell, they are the standard.

Aside from that - now is not the time to be buying gold.

ehh re:gold … 28 oz of pure 24k gold is probably worth close to a thousand bucks currently however you melt it

but know logic would say this is a seller’s market … however there are some who think it may rise to 6 or 8k $ … i dunno

gold is a great substitute for old fashioned swiss banking, if you have a good place to hide it, that no one knows of

only other options are diamonds (worthless really but … another story) .. and coltan … then ur other precious metals

when buying gold, i personally say go for maple leafs or swiss rectangles lol .. the other coins are mixed with junk metals .. krugerands, american eagles etc
