Why are people willing to sell me their precious gold for my worthless dollar? Shouldn’t they keep the gold?

gold buying
not-the-one asked:

I keep reading and hearing about how the economy is going to collapse and the dollar will be worth nothing. I’m also told I should buy gold, silver, palladium, whatever… Why are these people so willing to sell me these preciouse metals in trade for my money when they say I should buy this stuff because my money isn’t going to be worth anything? Wouldn’t it make more sense to their best interest to have as much gold as possible instead of the dollar?

gold, the dollar, or any other commodity has a perceptual value of what people think its worth. most of the dollars issues have to do with liberal confiscatory tax and spend policy. it wont be around forever and when conservatives clean it up the dollar witll return. people investing in the dollar know this and are savvy with financial acumen.
